Weekends in Devon

Festivals make the perfect excuse for a weekend in Devon. From coastal food festivals to folk weekends and music in the hills, here are the best festival weekends across the county.

A festival is one of the best reasons to spend a weekend in Devon — you get the event and the place in one trip, whether that's a harbour town, a surf beach or a corner of Dartmoor. Here are some of the county's best festival weekends.

A weekend on the South Hams coast

Base yourself in Dartmouth, Salcombe or Totnes and you're spoilt for choice. Dartmouth Food Festival, Salcombe Crabfest and the free Dart Music Festival all make brilliant weekends by the water.

A weekend in Plymouth

Devon's biggest city is an easy festival weekend. Time it with Flavour Fest, Seafest Plymouth or the Plymouth Art Weekender and you'll see the Barbican and waterfront at their liveliest — all free.

A weekend on the Jurassic Coast

Sidmouth, Exmouth and Budleigh Salterton line up some of Devon's finest weekends. Sidmouth Folk Festival takes over the seafront in summer, and the Budleigh Salterton Literary Festival is a gem in autumn.

A weekend in the north

Head to the surf coast for GoldCoast Oceanfest at Croyde, or inland to Barnstaple and Bideford for the North Devon FOODfest and the Barnstaple Fringe TheatreFest.
