Appledore Book Festival has grown into one of the biggest literary gatherings in the South West, filling the whitewashed streets and quayside venues of this North Devon fishing village with talks, readings and workshops. Big-name novelists, historians and broadcasters share the bill with poets, local writers and events for younger readers.

The setting is a huge part of the charm, with the estuary, independent galleries and cosy pubs all within a short walk of the festival venues. Run by a dedicated team of volunteers, it is a warm and welcoming affair that draws book lovers from across Devon and far beyond.
